COVID-19 Dashboard

In all learning models, Hopkins is committed to the goals of Vision 2031 and the health and safety of our students and staff.

In Hopkins, our ability to move between distance learning, hybrid learning, and in-person learning over the course of the school year depends on many factors including health data, staffing, budget, and our ability to implement health mitigation practices and safety standards. Our COVID-19 Dashboard is designed to help families, staff, and the community understand the data points that most impact our learning models. These data points will be updated regularly and new components will be added.

122.7

This number represents the number of positive cases in Hennepin County per 10,000 residents. The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) use this number to recommend the learning model we should operate in. You can learn more about these guidelines in the Learning Model section of our data dashboard.

The gray area of the chart on the left represents the minimum and maximum data points from Hopkins and surrounding cities where students and staff reside. This data is important because it helps us evaluate the level of impact based on the transmission rates in individual areas.

The number of positive cases per 10,000 residents is reported weekly from Hennepin County and MDE. However, it is important to note that the data shared by MDE is two days behind the data shared directly from Hennepin County.

The local Hopkins Public Schools data will be collected on Tuesday by 5 p.m. and posted on Wednesday by noon. The data represents the number of confirmed positive cases for students and staff who are participating in in-person learning models. The quarantine and exclusion data reflects staff and students in all learning models who are unable to return to school due to close contact with a positive case, possible exposure to a confirmed positive, or symptoms. We are sharing the quarantine and exclusion data for all staff and students to give the community an understanding of our ability to staff learning models and provide a picture of how COVID-19 is impacting our community.

Elected Models

Minnesota schools are directed to develop three learning models — in person, hybrid, and distance learning. School districts will move fluidly between models over the course of the 2020-21 academic year due to varying levels of COVID-19 impact and other District parameters.
